Hello, fellow creature.
I am Marissa, a lover of music, sound, and the human voice.

My Story
Since earning my Jazz Voice degree from Howard University in 2017, I’ve sung my soul’s song in forests, tunnels, and stages from Colorado to Maryland. I’ve performed at fancy, impressive venues including the Kennedy Center and NPR’s Tiny Desk (in ensembles—but it still counts!) and made a living busking for strangers in pretty places while traveling the country in my van.

I’m passionate about uncovering the raw, creaturely beauty of the human voice. I believe vocal pedagogy needs more play—a permission slip to explore beyond right and wrong. My teaching is rooted in curiosity, embodiment, and expression over perfection.

Beyond teaching, I’m a songwriter and producer, working toward a full-length album in 2025. As I shift away from cover gigs, I’m exploring how to bring my original music to audiences in the most authentic way. Live dates are rare during this incubation period, but stay tuned—more is on the way.
